One of the largest single-site hospitals in China with very broad coverage
West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan UniversityTeeth & mouth
The stomatology hospital most often ranked first nationally

Your 5-day plan, day by day

Real Chinese hospital visits rarely resolve in one appointment. Scans and blood work happen on a separate day from the diagnosis conversation, so this plan assumes at least one waiting day.

DAY 1

Arrive, rest, set up payment

  • West China Hospital is enormous. Note the building number and entrance of the department you need — the campus has many gates.
  • Chengdu has lower hotel and food costs than Beijing or Shanghai, which makes longer stays realistic.
  • Set up payment apps and note that English is less widely spoken here than in Shanghai — an interpreter matters more.
DAY 2

Registration and consultation

  • This is one of the busiest hospital campuses in China. Bring patience and a companion to hold your place while you sit down.
  • Registration cards must be recharged with funds; ask your companion to handle it at the counter.
  • Bring every previous record — West China sees referred cases and expects full documentation.
DAY 3

Tests and scans

  • Because this is a regional referral hub, waiting times for specialised imaging can be longer than expected.
  • Use waiting time productively: many visitors do short walks and eat well — the food here is a genuine advantage for recovery.
  • Confirm exactly when results will be released and whether you must collect them in person.
DAY 4

Results, then pandas

  • Review the diagnosis and the treatment plan with your doctor and interpreter together.
  • The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding involves gentle walking on paved paths and benches throughout — go early morning when it is cool and quiet.
  • Jinli ancient street and the People’s Park teahouse are flat alternatives if you prefer no walking at all.
DAY 5

Follow-up and departure

  • Collect records, invoices and prescriptions.
  • Head to the airport with generous time — Tianfu is a long way from the city centre.

What you book yourself, and what we arrange

What you book yourself

  • Return flights into Tianfu International Airport or Shuangliu International Airport
  • Your hotel or serviced apartment
  • Travel medical insurance bought before departure
  • The hospital appointment and all treatment payments

What we arrange on the ground

  • A driver waiting for you at Tianfu International Airport or Shuangliu International Airport and again on departure day
  • An interpreter beside you at registration, consultation and payment
  • A companion to handle registration cards, queue numbers and pharmacy pickup
  • A short, low-effort outing on your recovery days

Recovery-day activity ideas

Waiting days are unavoidable, and sitting in a hotel room makes the trip worse. These are flat, short and easy to stop early:

  • Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
  • Jinli ancient street
  • Wuhou Shrine gardens
  • People’s Park teahouse

Practical notes

  • Sichuan food is famously spicy; ask for mild versions while you are recovering.
  • Chengdu is often hazy and humid — plan indoor activities when air quality is poor.
  • Because it draws patients from several provinces, confirm your queue position early each morning.
